Discover São Pedro de Moel on foot
Distance: Approximately 7 km
Average duration: 1h30
Starting point: Estrada da Mata, near São Pedro de Moel centre
Route:
- Start on Estrada da Mata/Estátua dos Reis (Kings’ Statue)
Head towards the road that leads into the woodland and runs alongside the Orbitur campsite. If you have any doubts, ask us at reception and we will quickly point you to the starting point. - Follow the trail
At the fork, keep left. A few metres further on, if you turn left, you will head towards the “Volta dos Cinco”: the shorter route. If you wish to continue along the “Volta dos Sete”, go straight ahead. - Descent through the woodland
Continue downhill until you reach another junction, then turn left and follow the road that runs alongside the Ribeiro de São Pedro de Moel. Let yourself be carried by the fresh air and the peaceful sounds around you. - Arrival at Praia Velha
Here, your smile will widen even more, and a true sense of calm will settle in. Take time to admire the Atlantic views and pause by the shore. - Path to Penedo da Saudade Lighthouse
Turn left and continue along the coastal trail, climbing towards the lighthouse. With every step, the horizon unfolds, and the ocean’s energy accompanies you. - Penedo da Saudade Lighthouse
By the lighthouse, operational since 1912, enjoy the panoramic views over the entire coast and São Pedro de Moel. This is one of the route’s highlights. - Return to São Pedro de Moel centre
Follow the walkway from the lighthouse to the village centre, admiring the unique architecture of the houses. - Finish in São Pedro de Moel centre
The route ends in the centre. You’re just steps from Miramar São Pedro de Moel. Simply head back and unwind with that feel-good glow from another day well spent.

Volta dos Cinco: The shorter alternative
If you prefer a gentler stroll, Volta dos Cinco is the way to go. At five kilometres, it’s ideal for families with children or anyone wanting a leisurely wander, with stops to take it all in.
The difference from the Volta dos Sete is that this route skips Praia Velha. On the descent through the woodland (route point 2), you’ll find a left turn that leads you through the coastal scrubland, rejoining the main path on the climb towards the lighthouse (route point 4).
Discover the authenticity of São Pedro de Moel
The Volta dos Sete and Volta dos Cinco in São Pedro de Moel, Marinha Grande, are an invitation to discover the most authentic and unhurried side of the region. The São Pedro de Moel stream, the iron-rich yet crystal-clear brooks, and the accompanying vegetation that lines them make the walk all the more rewarding.
