playlist ready and head out along the Atlantic Road..

Day highlights
  • Beaches framed by cliffs and places full of tradition
  • Typical local food and a relaxed atmosphere
  • Scenic coastal roads and authentic landscapes.

São Pedro de Moel beach: Morning by the sea

The day begins in the calm of São Pedro de Moel. A walk along the beach and the sound of the
waves help you wake up gently. It is worth stopping for a coffee on a terrace, visiting Penedo da

Saudade Lighthouse, strolling along the boardwalks, heading down to Praia Velha, letting your
gaze drift towards the horizon and taking a deep breath before setting off.

Polvoeira beach: Hidden coastal gem

Just a few minutes’ drive away, Polvoeira Beach is a hidden surprise among the cliffs. Access is
via a fairly steep staircase, but the effort is rewarded by the golden sand and the dramatic cliff
scenery. Looking for peace of mind? You will find it at Polvoeira.

Vale Furado: Dramatic cliffs and seaside views

Following the coast, you soon reach Vale Furado Beach. The high cliffs and rock formations
create a striking landscape. Here, you feel nature on your skin.

The Vale Furado viewpoint is a must stop. Take your time to gaze out and feel the power of nature just a few metres from the ocean. The far-reaching view is truly breathtaking.

Paredes da Vitória beach: History by the sea

At Paredes da Vitória Beach, the sea meets a village with deep roots, dating back to the
thirteenth century, when King Dinis founded Paredes to help defend the coast from pirates.

The wooden walkways of Paredes da Vitória are sure to tempt you. They invite you to an easy
stroll, scented by the coastal woodland, with the vast ocean always taking centre stage.

Praia do Norte: energy of the Nazaré giant waves

Before reaching Nazaré, it is worth making a detour to Praia do Norte. Even outside the giant
waves season, the lighthouse in the distance and the sea itself radiate an energy that
commands respect. This spot impresses both thrill seekers and those who simply prefer to
stand back and watch.

Nazaré: viewpoints and traditional flavours

As you arrive in Nazaré, the atmosphere changes. The typically narrow streets, the aroma of
grilled fish and the bustle of the seafront promenade invite you to pick a restaurant and enjoy
fresh fish, good seafood or a fish stew. Make the most of lunchtime to soak up the lively feel of
this fishing town.

After lunch, going up to Sítio da Nazaré, by funicular or by car, is almost a must. The panoramic
view over the beach and the town is unforgettable. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré and
the Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo are unmissable if you enjoy history and culture. If you are
travelling with family, the seafront promenade is ideal for a walk or for trying an artisan ice
cream.

Return or extension to Foz do Arelho

If the day still calls for more, you can carry on to Foz do Arelho, where Óbidos Lagoon meets
the sea. If you prefer to head back to São Pedro de Moel, enjoy the return journey by revisiting
the landscapes, like picking up shells along the shore.
